*Author's Note: This is a short story I wrote after hearing the song 'Jolene' by Dolly Parton. The lyrics of Jolene's description inspired me to write something about her. Enjoy loves. X*
She was so beautiful as she walked down the edge of the raggedy dirt road. A lost angel in her white nightgown, she glowed against the dark sky. Wandering with no destination, she stopped and floated to her knees. She wasn't aware of the grass that pricked her ivory skin, or of the wind that tugged on her fiery hair. But only of the silence that echoed all around her. She sat there for as long as the sun was down, and when the light stretched to reach her toes she looked up and the world gleamed in her emerald eyes. She stood to her dirty feet and tiptoed along her footsteps, back to where she had come from. I envied her. I envy her. I knew that she had come home to steal away my love. Denying the fact that he left willingly. I still cry, tears half as heavenly as hers.
